Hi Gang! The Flyers Forum (Flyer Magazine) are organising a Fly-in to Laarbruch 24-26 May 2013. I will endeavour to take a pictorial record and post on here afterwards for your info. If any ex-members are still flying, it might be a good time to plan a flying trip there too! All the best, Steve

I have many fond memories of accompanying my father (ex 31 Sqn and Station Flight) to the airfield where he flew with the model club at the end of the runways. He had a hand launch glider that could stay up for an age (guess who was the one who had to go and recover it) once it made it all the way to the MT park, the Duty MT NCOs was quite amused to be greeted by a 9 year old asking for his dad's model back!

Amongst my favourite memories of those days, was disappearing off to wonder amongst the Canberras and Buccaneers in their dispersals and watching the flying club aircraft come and go, hoping one day I could fly one! I particularly remember the Do 27 which I thought looked mighty impressive!

It's 40 plus years on and I have my PPL, inspired by those founding members of the club at Laarbruch. Many thanks and best wishes to you all.

Here's another one for "Slogans to Fly By":

You know you've landed with the wheels up if it takes full power to taxi to the ramp.

Purely by chance when doing some research, I found your website and the link which mentioned names and showed photographs from the Club all those many years ago. I noticed a few photos of Graham when he was CFI at the Club, prior to the tragic accident in which he and his colleague lost their lives.
I was so very lucky indeed, in having Graham as my long suffering QFI when completing my RAF wings couse at Leeming back in the 60s. The fact that I completed the course and subsequently graduated, was totally down to Graham's superb understanding, tolerance and ability as a QFI. I went on to complete 12 great years in the Service and then a further 27 years in Civil Aviation. I was often so very happy indeed to be able to recall, things that Graham had taught me and said as well, all those years previously.
